Branchroot ensemble

Comprised of Darren Williams (saxophone), Nicholas Denton Protsack (cello), and Andrew Stauffer (percussion, found objects), Kelowna, BC’s Branchroot Ensemble is a trio of experimental musicians who explore free improvisation and other atypical methods of music-making. The trio has been lauded for its eclectic approach to free improvisation, fusing elements of contemporary classical, free jazz, avant-rock, and folk into their performances, until each genre has become wholly unrecognizable. Branchroot Ensemble has been featured in the Living Things International Arts Festival, as well as the Okanagan Experimental Music (OXM) Concert Series. In 2023, the trio released its debut album, Far From the Tree.
